Nottingham Forest Retained / Released List

There has been a lot of fans desperate for a list of retained and released players. Some clubs have done similar whilst Forest have not released such a list. The anger and desperation people feel the need to know is amusing. Its simply a case of those in or out of contract, as with the embargo we are hardly going to pay off a deal, when we might need every player possible. Some people seem to think retained list would even include loans. Again I think a lot of people don’t understand what is simply an out of contract / in contract list and of those who will leave. Its mainly about fringe youngsters
With that in mind though, here is what I would perceive to be the retained / released list

Dimitar Evtimov (?)
Dorus de Vries (?)
Eric Lichaj
Danny Fox
Jack Hobbs
Michael Mancienne
Kelvin Wilson
Roger Riera
Henri Lansbury
Jorge Grant

Oliver Burke
David Vaughan
Chris Burke
Chris Cohen
Jamie Paterson
Stephen McLaughlin
Dexter Blackstock
Tyler Walker
Lars Veldwijk
Djamel Abdoun
Britt Assombalonga
Matty Fryatt

Greg Halford
Danny Collins
Louis Laing
Dan Harding
Robert Tesche

Return to Parent Club
Gary Gardner
Karl Darlow
Jamaal Lascelles
Todd Kane
Chuba Akpom
Modou Barrow

There are huge question marks in the goalkeeper area. With Darlow leaving, and with Evtimov still unsure (I put on retained list but his contract is due to expire) it leaves de Vries, who I also heard a few whispers never actually formally signed his new deal offered under Pearce. That could be no goalkeepers.
Those out of contract I can foresee that none will be offered deals. Even the youngsters on that list should have broken through more than what they did.
Of those in contract and on retained list, I expect McLaughlin and Fox to be told to look for new clubs for free (but if no one wants them retained). David Vaughan to possibly be available. Lars Veldwijk to probably be loaned back to Holland or sold. Mackie and Majewski will be back, and both would be good enough to do a job, but also probably freely available and told they can go if a club wants them. Don’t expect any to simply have their contract torn up. That might happen to Abdoun, but he still has a year left on his deal and was refusing to agree a termination deal previously. Terminations are costly. You might essentially have to pay a full value of a contract off or come to an agreement and players are under no obligation to accept.
