Summer 2014 Transfer Gossip (May 19th)

In the first of these for the summer, here is a roundup of internet rumours doing the rounds about who
we are signing and who is going where. Remember, as always, none of this is what I think or have heard, but merely me collating all the various rumour sources onto one fun page of probable bollocks.

Matty Fryatt
As with any player we get linked with over the years, their name just won’t go away. Now it's Matty Fryatts turn to be the reoccurring rumour. Firstly he is a free agent after his Hull deal seems to have expired according to many. This immediately makes it more likely. Additionally he spent time in the Championship on loan and has struggled to get game time in a recently promoted team. Now Hull have European football, their pool of potential signings will be greater, and there will be less call for the likes of Fryatt. This for me makes this a very possible, very likely rumour that we'd be in for him.

Matty Fryatt

Callum Wilson
Coventry striker who has been in excellent form last season. 22 years old and seemingly in demand (Bournemouth are being linked with a move). The fee being bandied around is £3mill, which sounds roughly what you'd expect to pay for a young hungry League One successful striker. Wilson has however suggested he's willing to stay at Coventry. Though with their finances and a big offer the club may well want him to move to cash in.

Michael Mancienne
Following Hamburg's flirtation with relegation from the Bundesliga, they may look to revamp their squad and would perhaps look to offload the former Chelsea youngster. Manicenne was a regular for the U-21s and looked like he might kick on and have a good career after a loan at Wolves. He's become a forgotten man in England at Hamburg, and what could have been a big move to a big European club seems to have gone wrong as Hamburg have faded in the last few years. He's 26 now. Questions remain over how high his wages would be. He had followed Frank Arnesen out there, who has since moved on, but may attract attention from lower Premier League sides like West brom, or Sunderland.

Michael Mancienne

Luke Ayling
Yeovil defender who can play right back, he is out of contract and is attracting interest from a host of Championship clubs, Forest included. Although only 22 he has played over 100 games so is relatively experienced for his age. He would be a relatively cheap replacement as a right back cover now Jara has gone, and the fact no fee would be involved is surely extra incentive.

Out

We have already covered the contract expiries and releases, so this is actual players out.

Henri Lansbury
Linked heavily with Fulham. Fulham are very wealthy, and will be looking at solid quality Championship players, we know Lansbury is this. Lansbury is also a London lad, and Fulham's extra financial clout mean he could probably at least double if not triple his wages there. He's already said to have been unhappy at being moved down the wage structure. That said a new contract may sooth this tensions. Another rumour was he wanted out for personal reasons involving his ex-partner. These are completely unsubstantiated so I can't comment. He'd likely command a big fee and this is the last chance we'd have to really call the shots on that, as next year his value would start to drop as his contract begins to run down.

Dan Harding
In a bizarre piece of news Dan Harding was rumoured to be targeted by MLS future franchise Orlando City. They won't start playing till 2015 season, so what this would mean for his career in the next 6 months is unclear (I appreciate they'd play a lot of preparation friendlies and suchlike) I don't know why anyone would swap life in Nottinghamshire for Florida, to play not much football in your careers last few years. If it's true, and it seems random they'd choose him, then it'd be a good move for all. He's somewhat of a fans scapegoat, and he'd get some sunshine. Their manager is Adrian heath, who played for Everton and Man City; I can't find any Harding connection.

Karl Darlow
Liverpool and Spurs are being linked with him, supposedly to act as back up to Mignolet and Lloris respectively. Some suggest rather than back up he'd continue here on loan for a year, to keep his progression going. If that’s the case a large fee would probably be needed, in the region of £4-5 million. I can easily see Darlow being attracted by this and making the move.
