Transfer Gossip Round Up - 7th January

Well here we are in our second instalment in this window of a roundup of transfer gossip. As previously this is not news and we aren’t trying to make it, but merely commenting on the latest rumours to go round. Again we categorise them as likely, made up, or living in cloud cuckoo land

The Believable

Jordan Rhodes
as we reported last time Rhodes name is still doing the rounds and we are still being linked. That said I still can’t see him coming here rather than a Premiership club. Rather than risk being stuck in this division longer, I’d think he’d stick at Blackburn till summer than evaluate his future before moving to a Premiership club, rather than risk another Championship clubs chances of going up.

Nakhi Wells
And as before Wells is being linked. Apparently the odds on him moving to Forest dropped, which I found staggering, because I had no idea any bookmaker would even be doing any odds on something as fringe interest as this. Remains a good likely target

Kris Boyd
A new name for the list is an old name, in so far as he has played for the club before in 2011. The Scotsman newspaper has linked him with us again, as his contract is expiring in the summer. For me he is an upgrade on Darius Henderson. I can understand that Billy knows his man and might be interested, so it’s possible and it could be cut price due to contact expiries.

Matty Fryatt
Another rumour not going away is Matty Fryatt who was linked in loan window before going to Sheffield Wednesday. Fryatt would be available for £500k but any deal might rely on relations remaining good over the Jack Hobbs deal. It’s completely believable. However we may have moved focus elsewhere.

Nicky Maynard
Linked on Sky Sports website with the news he is likely to be allowed to go on loan for rest of season; we are a number of teams being linked with the striker. We’ve been linked before so it makes sense. And a loan deal might be best.

Alexander Buttner
Being linked on the sole premise I’d imagine that United seem extremely keen on another left back as well as Evra, be it Baines or Coentrao. If they do get one the indication is Buttner may go out on loan. This is all conjecture and guesswork, and has absolutely no basis whatsoever. That said. You never know.

Danny Ings
Isn’t going to be happening but hasn’t stopped one or two accounts or sites suggesting it’s possible. Ings would be possibly believable, but at a huge cost and likely would go to the Premier League rather than move sideways.
