Wilson signs Pre-contract agreement with Celtic - but could he be gone by the end of the month?

Towards the back end of last week, it was confirmed that Kelvin Wilson had finally signed a pre-contract agreement with Celtic – a move that every Forest fan and his dog knew was going to happen.

At the time of the news breaking, it was an obvious shame. We all know Wilson is a fantastic player for this level and not only were we losing him, he was also leaving the club for nothing - a bitter pill to swallow for a player we've progressed significantly.

However interesting developments in the past 24 hours, suggests Celtic are pledging Wilson a quick-fire switch in the January transfer window. Rumour has it we have slapped a price of £500k on Wilson’s head if Celtic want him now, so Davies can get a suitable replacement - although Celtic have only offered £400k as of yet.

Now I think £500k is a fair enough price for Wilson as we recoup everything that we paid in 2007 plus £200k profit - obviously if he had 2 or 3 years left on his deal, I'd rate him at £2m.

That said, if Celtic aren’t prepared to shift from £400k, then we must accept or else we just seem happy to lose a great player for nothing - even if we have been reluctant to play him this season, injuries aside.

I guess we’ll just have to see what this week brings.
