The Players on Their Way Out

There are a number of players who  contracts are ending this summer and will it seem likely depart the City Ground. With us reaching mid April already, these players will seem unlikely to get new deals. They are
Danny Collins
Dan Harding
Greg Halford
Louis Laing
Robert Tesche
Dorus de Vries

That last name might surprise you, but the rumour doing the rounds that I haven’t seen confirmed is that de Vries never actually signed the deal before Pearce was sacked. Since then all contract offers were taken back, and Freedman hasn’t offered the Dutchman a new deal, and hence Evtimov appearing as sub keeper instead. It might be wrong, but again, I’m reacting to gossip and it looks evidenced, The rest, with a possible exception of Laing will all definitely be let go I think. If rumoured wages are to be believed that’s £3,000,000 saved)

Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles loans are of course expiring. So too will Gary Gardner, Todd Kane and Chuba Akpom.

There are a number of fringe players Freedman may encourage to move on for free or extremely cut price. It may be the contracted players he discussed before who could be out. For all of these we will show In brackets contract expiry dates. As they only have a year left, we might even take a freebie to get them off the wage bill and out the club, and free up some wages.
Stephen McLaughlin (2016)
Danny Fox (2017)
Lars Veldwijk (2017)
David Vaughan (2016)

The following players will be returning from loan, unless options are taken up by the loaning club. As above, we would surely seek to just be shot of them for anything. All of these players wages are in the higher reaches of our wage bill, so will be key to moved on (if rumours of wages are true, there’s best part of £3,500,000 p/a there saved)

Radi Majewski (2016)
Jamie Mackie (2016)
Djamel Abdoun (2016)

This is without looking more to some of the more senior players who may well look to move, or the club feel best to get rid. We will focus on them next.
