Transfers Rumour Round Up (27-08-2014)

The likelihood is for no more players coming in, except maybe a loan or two. That said there is a bit of speculation about players going out. Here is a roundup of all the gossip on numerous sources. As usual I lay no claim to any of these rumours, I am not saying they are happening or not, but merely gathering them from a host of sources.

INs

Ryan Christie
Was mentioned last week, a link to a 19 year old promising Scottish midfielder playing for Inverness Caledonian Thistle. To be honest since the rumour appeared, Lansbury signed a longer deal and although no doubt any signing would be for the future, I'm not sure he'd want to come south to then sit in a Championship team's reserves / development squad. Maybe a Premiership teams one with a chance of a subsequent loan, or loan back to Inverness.

John Guidetti
The Manchester City striker who has always promised so much is now 22. After 2 years of illness keeping him out the side, he has a lot to prove, and with there being very little chance of breaking through at City, they might seek to loan him. He failed on loan Stoke last season, so dropping down would give him a chance. However Feyenoord would like to take him back after he scored prolifically a couple of years ago there, and now they sold Pelle to Southampton. Also he would want to be the main man you'd assume, and not play a rotation system or even second fiddle to Assombalonga.

OUTs

Danny Collins
Essentially up for sale, just waiting for clubs to offer to take him off our hands. He'd be allowed to go for free, and a number of clubs have been linked. Collins is not, with the return now of Hobbs, Wilson and Lascelles to get any game time at all. Even Danny Fox, a full back, is preferred at centre back.  Huddersfield were linked last week, after a few League One clubs were mentioned before. Collins would be enticing on deadline day for some clubs, maybe in a month loan.

Greg Halford
Like Collins he's free to go to a good home, should a responsible owner be found. Halford would surely be very enticing for clubs through his versatility. Halford got a good deal of games last season, but would look likely to be departing this season, again like Collins, maybe on an extended loan to a lower Championship club. Surely he could do a job for the likes of Brentford or Rotherham.

Dexter Blackstock
There were vague rumours about a loan move. Completely unlikely as he still isn't fit. Maybe once fit he might get a short term loan to get his fitness up, but even then I see it unlikely. And Pearce and Wigley have mentioned he will be considered when fit, in a rotation of the front 4.

Djamel Abdoun
If anyone wants to take on his wages, and then we might do business. Though he is completely unlikely to play any role whatsoever. The only way he will is if half the squad gets itself injured or wiped out by Ebola. Maybe a move back to Greece beckons, but he'd have to take a pay cut, like Djebbour.
